Big Chiller Blues | Photos From an Intimate Justice of the Peace Civil Wedding Ceremony in Austin, TX
19 MAR 2023
Brittany and Logan got married on a Friday at Austin's own Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2. Judge Slagle—for lack of a better word—rocked.
The court house was quiet when we checked in, with Logan and Brittany being the only two in the waiting room. After a few minutes, a clerk walked us into the courtroom, where Judge Slagle warmly greeted the bride and groom and reveled in the excitement of it all with them.
What felt like just a few moments later, the ceremony was underway, rings were exchanged, a kiss took place, and a couple was united in marriage.

By this point, it was about 3 p.m. and we wanted to let the sun set a bit before we jumped into photos. IYKYK, we're always chasing the golden hour light. So, we headed downtown and hit up the Dead Rabbit, a classic Irish bar on 6th street.

A little lunch and a drink (or two!) later, we were ready to brave the start of the SXSW crowds to take photos at Big Chiller Blues. A very cool mural by Ann Adams on the side of the Austin Convention Center parking garage, it features 10,000 square feet of glass tiles in various shades of blue.
Can you guess where the Big Chiller Blues name came from? It's an homage to the big chiller from Austin Energy inside the building, which air conditions many of the buildings downtown. How fun!
